Rivers

Born in Trinidad and Tobago, the first musical instrument the man known as "Rivers" ever played was the steel pan at the age of 9. He then began singing and arranging Calypso in school concerts at a tender age, which led to playing keys for his first band Marvin Bernard and the Steelers, who became well known in the Port of Spain area of T&T, for their reggae styles and pattan.

This led to Rivers providing backup vocals for several well-known Calypso artists like Josiaha Ash of Saint Vincent and Brigo, a veteran in the T&T soca circles; however, Rivers always did reggae music as the inspiration of his life.

Rivers played for the Twelve Tribes of Israel band in T&T and performed with famous artists such as Courtney Melody, Sanchez, and Ninja Man in T&T before migrating to the USA where he worked with a number of artists in the DC area such as One Nation, Soup, Intellect Keith, Less Sussi, and Gold.

As time went by, he linked up with Roots and became a part of Anointed Souls. After Anointed Souls, Rivers played in the infamous Soundation, who became well known in the DC area for a number of years and earned DC Reggae Awards.

After leaving for Europe for a couple of years and returning to the District in '03, the revolutionary sound Talawa was born, in which Rivers does as he has always done: plays keys, sings, writes, and arranges music.

Rivers will never stop doing what is the strength of his life... Selah.

Favorite Slogan: "All blessings and honors."
